Yasmina Nysten 1988 Helsinky (Finland)
Yasmina Alexandra Nysten (b. Helsinki, raised Beirut) is a Finnish-Lebanese artist working in Oregon whose practice bridges figurative realism and atmospheric abstraction. She holds a BFA from the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and an MFA from Pratt Institute.
Initially centered on large-scale figurative works, Nysten’s practice evolved during her tenure in New York to address built environments, institutional visibility, and cultural memory. Her work negotiates the space between Middle Eastern and Western figurative traditions.
Currently working along the Pacific Coast in Oregon, her body of work reclaims portraiture as a structural field where internal topography, ancestral trace, and physical landscape collapse into one another.

Wind Witnesses brings together fourteen modern and contemporary artists around a universal and deeply poetic subject: the bird. A symbol of freedom, movement and spirituality, but also of exile, fragility and resistance, the bird transcends cultures and art history, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with the world and the natural environment. Featuring works by Dia Al-Azzawi, Abdallah Benanteur, Fares Cachoux, Chaouki Choukini, Akram Al Halabi, Manabu Kochi, Randa Maddah, Laila Muraywid, Yasmina Nysten, Irving Petlin, Azza Abo Rebieh, Khaled Takreti, Reem Yassouf and Ossip Zadkine, the exhibition explores the many meanings of this elusive figure, at the intersection of poetry, memory, and contemporary political and ecological concerns. Between flight and belonging, freedom and vulnerability, Wind Witnesses offers a poetic journey in which the bird becomes a reflection of the human condition and our enduring longing for elsewhere.
