Antoine de Saboulin 1987

After more than twelve years devoted to art direction and illustration, Antoine de Saboulin returned to the Beaux-Arts in Paris before devoting himself fully to painting from 2020 onwards. Having inherited his artistic sensibility from his father, himself a painter, he grew up in close contact with art history, museums and iconographic discussions, which nourished his eye from an early age and affirmed his taste for the language of images.

Antoine de Saboulin has developed a visual style in which colour, composition and narration occupy a central place. Photography, omnipresent, shapes the viewer's gaze through precise framing and a subtle tension between snapshot and staging. In the background, French electro, psychedelic rock and 1990s pop culture permeate his imagination and set the pace for his painting. Alongside painting, Antoine de Saboulin cultivates a marked affinity for analogue photography, through which he captures the urban poetry of Paris in a melancholic figuration.

In 2023, his work was spotted by Christie's London, which invited him to participate in Christie's Lates in December. The following year marked a decisive step: he became a member of the Taylor Foundation and presented his first solo exhibition, Odyssée, curated by Galerie AOM.
